Mrs. Mary Leeling of Kirtley Passes Away At Home of Daughter

Mrs. Mary Leeling, for more than thirty years a resident of the community east of Kirtley, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Thayer, north of Harrison, Neb., on Sunday, April 7th. Complications conjunctive with advanced age were responsible for her passing.

Funeral services were held at Kirtley, Tuesday afternoon, and the remains interred in the Kirtley cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Leeling, for 32 years a resident of Kirley, mother of eight children, grandmother of 29, great-grandmother of four, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Thayer, at Harrison last Sunday. Mrs. Leeling, whose maiden name was Peterson was born in Iowa in 1857 and was married to Sam Leeling in 1888.

Note: Although the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery records indicated that Mary J. Leeling was born in 1857, and died in 1924, we have used the year 1934 as the death date, based on the newspaper article in 1934.
