Lawrence "Larry" D. Roland
Larry D. Roland
Lawrence "Larry" D. Roland, 52, of Lusk, passed away at his home Sun., Oct. 19, 2009, with his wife Gail D. Roland and son C.W. Roland (Clifford Walter: 3 generations of Roland names combined for a 4th generation) at home with him. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. Inurnment at the Lusk Cemetery will be at a later date.
Larry was born to Clifford and Nadine (Boyce) Roland in Alliance, Nebr. on Aug. 6, 1957. He was raised in Hemmingford, Nebr. on Grandma and Grandpa's farm until 5 years of age, when his family moved to Gering, Nebr., where he received his education at a Catholic Academy until the age of 13, when he transferred to public school.
Larry and Gail (Snow) Roland were blessed with 27 years together. They were united in marriage on Feb. 14, 1984, making their home in Lusk in the late 1980s. Through the years Larry was a helper on farms and ranches, truck driver, carpenter, construction worker, salesman, computerized conveyor installer, TV cable installer, and oil/tire changer at Rawhide Lube. As you go into Lincoln, Nebr., if you take the Cornhusker, Larry bull-floated the whole top of that concrete highway. Think of him when you go there. He did concrete work for over 24 years, and did pool decks with that knowledge. Even with all the travel for work, home was always in Lusk, Wyo., where he lived, loved, and laughed as a man, husband, father, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father; by his mother, who passed away in February 2009; and by several siblings.
Larry is survived by his wife Gail and son C.W. of the family home; son Seth and step-son Uriah of Gering, Neb.; sisters Cathy (Ron) Imus and Cindy Holcomb; and brother Donnie, all of Gering.
Memorials to the family are suggested. The Lord calls us and we go from here, His greatest love the Lord gives us, and we share. He's above the eagles. May all of us feel that freedom we are given.
