Herbert Fowler Dies In Calif. Of Heart Attack
Herbert Fowler, 62, of Cheyenne and a former Lusk resident, died unexpectedly in Palm Springs, Calif. Tuesday aftrnoon. He was stricken with a heart attack while sitting in a chair in a motel.
Funeral services will be held in Cheyenne at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Masonic graveside services will be held at the Lusk Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Fowler was engaged in the wholesale lumber business in Cheyenne with the firm of Fowler and Peth. He had also been engaged in business in Newcastle and Igloo.
Mr. Fowler is well known throughout the state. He had long been active in the Republican party and served as Executive Secretary to former Governor Nels Smith and served three terms in the Legislature. He was speaker of the House in 1939.
Mr. Fowler is survived by a sister, Miss Alice Fowler of Lusk, a son in Salt Lake, a daughter in Anaheim, Calif., and his wife of Cheyenne.
