Charlotte Eddy Killed in Auto Accident Sunday

Mrs. Charlotte Eddy, 81, Niobrara County resident since 1915 was killed in a one-car accident 12 miles west of Lusk on U.S. 20 Sunday at 4:56 p.m. funeral service was being held this Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Peet Chapel.

Mrs. Eddy was a passenger in a 1970 Ford Maverick driven by her daughter Mrs. Emma Rustad, 50, Prescott, Ariz. They had been visiting relatives in the Keeline area and were en route back to Lusk.

According to the Wyoming Highway patrol the car went off the right side of the road and rolled twice. Though neither of the women were wearing seat belts they were not thrown out of the car. Mrs. Eddy died of apparent head injuries. Mrs. Rustad was taken by Lusk-Niobrara ambulance to Douglas where stitches were taken in her right leg and she was then released.

The Rev. Fred Bolinger of the First Baptist Church was officiating at the service, and Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was the organist. A quartette composed of Mrs. Merle Hahn, Mrs. Walt Fernau, Lee Johnsonbaugh and Harry Lyon were singing "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Casket bearers were Harold Rogers, Everett Parmely, Clifford Cox, Kenneth Wright, William Nuttall, and Floyd Bartos. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Charlotte Cora Eddy, daughter of Eugene and Emma Weeks Coleman, was born August 24, 1892, at Wessington Springs, S. D. She attended schools in South Dakota and on December 23, 1910, was married to Joseph Clayton Eddy at Wessington Springs. They moved to Wyoming in 1915 and homesteaded eight miles northwest of Keeline. IN 1947 Mrs. Eddy moved to Lusk where she still resided at the time of her death.

She is survived by four sons Larry, Keeline, Edgar, Talent, Ore., Herbert, Lusk, and Lyle, Gillette; two daughters, Laura Phillips, San Mateo, Calif., Emma Rustad, Prescott, Ariz; three brothers, Frank Coleman, Ruthven, Iowa, Seward Coleman, Springfield, Ore. and Lloyd Coleman, Lusk; two sisters Olivia Hainy, Russell, Kansas and Ruth Rainy, Springfield, Ore.; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, two sons, one daughter and four sisters died previously.
