Andy B. Covington

Little Andy Convington was brought to town Tuesday with the hope that being nearer medical assistance he might recover. He passed away, however, at twelve o'clock today, after an illness of eleven weeks. Four physicians were consulted, all agreeing that the little fellow was suffering with spinal meningitis and his recovery doubtful. A trained nurse was in attendance and everything possible done for him, but his life could not be saved. Andy was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Covington, a bright, lovable little fellow of eight years; who made many friends during his attendance at school here. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family in their hour of trial. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal church.

Obituary
Andy Covington was born May 1, 1897, two miles west of Big Springs, Howard county, Texas. When little Andy was about six weeks old his parents started to Wyoming with a herd of cattle. They were on the road 87 days and camped out every night and Andy was not sick a day on the trip. They reached Broom creek, Wyoming, the 20th day of September and settled where is now known as the A. J. Covington ranch, where they have since resided, moving to Lusk in winter for school. Andy was taken sick at his father's ranch May 14, 1905, with spinal meningitis, from which he died the 20th day of July. He was always a most loving and obedient child to his parents and loved by all who knew him.
Weep not dear father and mother for the dear one who has gone on before, but be prepared to meet him in a brighter world above where all is peace and love.
Be swift, dear heart, in loving
For time is brief,
And thou mayest soon along life's highway
Keep step with grief.
Be swift, dear heart, in saying
The kindly word,
When ears are sealed thy passionate pleading
Cannot be heard.
Be swift, dear heart, in doing
The gracious deed,
Lest soon they whom thou holdest dearest
Be past the need.
Be swift, dear heart, in giving
The rare, sweet flower,
Nor wait to heap with blooms the casket
In some sad hour.
Dear heart, be swift in loving,
Time speedeth on;
And all thy chance of blessed service
Will soon be gone.
He leaves a father, mother, seven brothers and five sisters to mourn his loss. He was laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery under the sound of the church bell that he loved so well.
