Death Notice

Funeral services for Della M. Clarke, 94, of Lusk, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at Pier Funeral Home in Lusk. Mrs. Clarke passed away at Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk on Mon., July 13, 2009. Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of arrangements. A full obituary will follow.

Della Mae Clarke

Della M. Clarke of Lusk, Wyoming, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009. A celebration of life was held on Friday, July 17, 2009, at the Pier Funeral Home in Lusk at 2:00 p.m. The pallbearers were her great nephews and a dear friend.

Della was born to Dan and Barbara (Wasserburger) Jordan on the family ranch north of Harrison, Nebraska, on Feb. 10, 1915. She had one brother and three sisters. She attended school in Harrison, and graduated from Sioux County High School in 1933. She then went to beauty school in Denver, Colorado, and was an operator for 45 years before retiring.

She met and married George Clarke in 1941. Born to their marriage was one daughter, Sharron. For the first five years of their marriage, George worked for the BLM and they lived in several states. They then moved back to Harrison, Neb. in 1946. In 1967 George set up a law practice. After building their home, they moved to Lusk, where George practiced law.

Della's favorite things were her flower gardens in the summer, decorating her home for Christmas, playing bridge as often as she could, and going to Prairie Winds on the Senior Bus to gamble. She read numerous books, bowled, and she and George played a lot of golf. She loved her poodles, which she called her "babies".

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, and two sisters.

Della is survived by her daughter, Sharron, and sister, Dorothy Meier of Lusk; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
