Mrs. Catherine Lillian Gokel, 67, wife of Lewis Gokel, passed away at the Lutheran Hospital in Hot Springs, So. Dak. early Monday morning, Oct. 25. Mrs. Gokel had been in failing health for the past several months and a niece, Mrs. A. J. Gerry, a registered nurse, had been nursing her aunt for the past few weeks.

Mrs. Gokel was born in the Netherlands in 1881 and came to this country with her parents at an early age. She lived in Salt Lake City for 22 years, then in Casper, Wyo. for a few years and later in Osage and for about 20 years they have been residents of Lusk and community.

Mr. and Mrs. Gokel lived much of the time in the Hat Creek vicinity where they had oil holdings but for the past few years had an apartment on the second floor of the Quality Shop in Lusk.

The remains were brought to Lusk Monday by the Peet Mortuary and funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Lawrence P. Juell officiating.

A quartet composed of Mrs. H. J. Templeton, Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, Don Unruh and Rex Yocum sang several selections and were accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson at the chapel organ.

The casket bearers were Carl Tubbs and Robert Gull of Edgemont, S.D., Dudley Fields, of Hat Creek and Earl Heckert, Lawrence Johnson and W. W. Edmondson of Lusk.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Survivors, besides her husband, Lewis Gokel, are two nieces, Mrs. A. J. Gerry and Mrs. George Tait of Butte, Mont., both of whom were here for the services. Also present was Mr. Gokel's sister, Mrs. William Hansen of Michigan.
