Rulo Roberts' Brother Killed in Train Wreck
Rulo G. Roberts of Lusk was notified of the death of his brother, Kester A. Roberts of Richmond, Calif., who was killed at Planada, Calif. June 23 when a southbound Santa Fe passenger and mail train rammed into a freight train as it was turning off the main line into a siding.
Mr. Roberts, engineer of the passenger train, was pinned under his overturned Diesel locomotive.
Funeral services were conducted June 26 in Richmond and private committal followed at Sunset View.
Kester Andrew Roberts was born in Oakland, Nebr. Sept. 11, 1884. He moved with his parents from Oakland to Crawford where he grew to manhood. After beginning work with the railroad, he moved to California and took employment with the Santa Fe railroad for 43 years and was planning to retire in a short time.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Threffall Roberts; two sons, Kester M. of Davis, Calif.; and Herbert E. of the Naval Air Station, Moffet Field, Calif.; a sister, Effie C. Maple of Long Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Leon R. Roberts of Buffalo and Rulo G. Roberts of Lusk; and numerous other relatives.
