Henry Harrison Roberts

Harry Harrison Roberts was born at Olesberg, Kentucky, Dec. 7th, 1844. He enlisted in the service of his country on Sept. 20th, 1861 and was mustered out on Feb. 7th, 1864; he re-enlisted Feb. 8th, 1864, and was mustered out on July 17th, 1865.
He spent two years of his enlistment as scout to Gen. U. S. Grant. After serving his country he went to Kansas where he was married to Mary C. McCammon on the 3rd day of May 1868, at Wyandotte. To this union were born six children, two of whom preceded their father to that far and better world.
The deceased leaves, besides a host of friends to mourn his loss, a loving wife, Mary C. Roberts; Geo. R. Roberts of Marion, Kansas; Charles N. Roberts of Laird, Colorado; and Hattie and Matie Updike of Lusk; also two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law and thirleen grandchildren.
The deceased moved from Kansas to Wyoming in November, 1906 and in March 1909, he moved to Lusk, where he resided till his death.
He joined the Order of Odd Fellows, Grand Valley Lodge, No. 127, at Florence, Kansas, in 1879 and was transferred to Custer Lodge, No. 21, about two years ago.
Henry Harrison Roberts joined the Methodist church at Florence, Kans., on Dec. 20, 1834 and at his death still held his membership in this church.
Note: The names Henry and Harry are both in this obituary. The name Henry was used, as this is what was found on the marriage record.

Death of an Old Resident
Harrison Harry Roberts, was born at Olesberg Kentucky December 7, 1884, (as printed), entlisted in the service of his country on Septemer 20, 1861, mustered out February 7, 1864, re-enlisted February 8, 1864,and mustered out on July 17, 1865. Two years of his enlistment was spent as scout for General U. S. Grant. After serving his country he went to Kansas and was married to Mary C. McCammon on the 3rd of May 1868 at Wyandotee, Kansas. The deceased moved from Kansas to Wyoming, November 1905 and in March 1909 he moved to the town of Lusk, where he still resided until his death.
