Maria T. Doty Mead was born in Rochester, Minn. September 9, 1849. She moved in 1874 with her parents to Vinton, Iowa. She was married to Daniel William Mead in 1875. To this union four children were born: George, Mertie who is deceased, Anna and Doty. She was left a widow in 1896.
As a young girl she united with the Methodist church and was a faithful worker therein until she moved to Wyoming in 1906. Here her papers were accepted by the Congregational church at Lusk, of which church she was still a member at the time of her death.
She passed away at her home in Douglas at the age of 83 years and 7 months. It was her wish to be laid at rest in Lusk, where her home had been for so many years - among her old friends.

Mrs. Maria T. Mead, 83, died at her home in Douglas Mar. 31 and the remains were brought to Lusk for burial with services being held in the Congregational Church with Rev. Edwin F. Irwin officiating. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Anna Schoen, of Cotton Grove, Ia., and two sons, Doty Mead of Casper and George Mead of Douglas, with whom she had been making her home.

Mrs. Maria T. Mead Passes Away at Home in Douglas at Age of 83; Funeral in Lusk
Deceased Came Here in 1906 and Was Resident Until 1925
Mrs. Maria T. Mead, 83 years old, passed away at her home in Douglas on Friday, March 31, and the remains were brought to Lusk, where funeral services were held from the Congregational Church on Monday afternoon, with Rev. Edwin F. Irwin officiating, and arrangements in charge of the Peet Mortuary.
Mrs. Mead came to Lusk in 1906 and made her home with her son, George, until 1925, when they moved to Lander, and then to Douglas in 1931, where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Mead is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anna Schoen, of Cottage Grove, Oregon, and two sons, Doty Mead of Casper, Wyo., and Geo. Mead of Douglas. She is also survived by one brother, Steven Doty, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One granddaughter, Mrs. Lyle Bell, came from Provo, Utah, to attend the funeral.
Pallbearers were J.D. Lorenzen, George Saffell, M.P. Vollmaer, Otis Bump, Jack Gartrell and Henry Deetjen.
