Sam Knori Dies Tuesday Morning

Sam Knori, 57, died at his home in Harrison early Tuesday morning. He has been ill for several years. Funeral details had not been completed at The Herald's presstime, but the funeral will be held at the Methodist Church possibly on Friday.

Services Held For S. J. Knori

Funeral services were held Friday at the Methodist Church for S. J. Knori who died at his home March 17 after a lingering illness. The Rev. Keith Bruning officiated with burial in the Harrison Cemetery.

Mr. Knori was born at Harrison November 10, 1901, the son of Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Knori. He grew up on a ranch north of Harrison being one of the early ranchers of Rocky Point, Wyo. and Harrison. He was baptised in the Lutheran Church at an early age.

During the summer of 1927 he and his brother, Mannie, were chosen as two of the riders to carry the invitation from the Governor of Wyoming for the Frontier Day celebrations to President Calvin Coolidge at the Game Lodge, South Dakota. The riders carried out their rides in every detail of the Pony Express of a half century before.

He was employed under civil service during World War II at Fort Robinson for a period of five years.

On August 27, 1928 he was married to Miss Fannie May Mikaelson. To them three children were born.

Survivors are his wife, Fannie; two sons, Rollie of Jackson, Wyo., and John of Harrison; one daughter, Mrs. Joan Balik of Auburn, Calif.; two grandchildren, Alan and Trudy Balik; two brothers, Mannie of New Orleans, La., and Gus of Jackson; five aunts and numerous other relatives.

"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung by Miss Cleone Hoyda and Grant Seifert, accompanied by Mrs. M. H. Koch.

Pall bearers were Chester Lacy, John Anderson, Rudolph Geike, Rudy Hartman, Adolph Zurcher and Paul Holtz. Honorary pallbearers were Grant Driver and Clarence Swope.

Those out of town here for the funeral were: Mrs. Dail Knori, Jackson; Mrs. Alice Randall and son Michael; Mrs. and Mrs. Red Rising, Mr. and Mrs. George Hoyda and daughter, Cleone, of Crawford; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Swope and Herb Segal of Lusk.
