Maxine Mae Hulse
Maxine Mae Hulse, 90, of Lusk, Wyo., died Friday, May 8, 2009 at Niobrara Health and Live Center after suffering a heart attack.
Memorial services will be held at Pier Funeral Home, 101 W. 4th Street, Lusk, Wyo. On Thurs., May 14, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the afternoon.
She was born on May 15, 1918, in Grand Island, Neb., to Harry and Ethel Beemer. Her family moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where she grew up.
Maxine married Fritz Merritt and they had two sons, Gary Merritt and Don Merritt, both now residing in Lusk, Wyo.
After the death of her first husband, she married William Hulse, and they had two daughters: Lorraine (Katie) Christman of Redlands, California, and Pamela Hulse of Lusk, Wyo.
Maxine was a devoted wife and mother. When not caring for her family, she spent her time helping others. She was an active volunteer with the Senior Center while living in Rosemead, Calif.
After moving to Montclair, Calif. she became an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the LWML Women's Guild. For many years she helped and managed the Lutheran High School Thrift Shop, which benefited both the church and school. She was a frequent volunteer to church shut-ins, helping with their care and living needs. Her life was devoted to helping others whenever she could.
In recent years, as her health gradually declined, she became more and more dependant on her daughter Pam for her care, moving to Lusk to live with Pam about 7 years ago. The rest of her family humbly thanks you, Pam; for all that you have done for Mom. She loved you so much and you were always there for her.
Her four children, her 6 grandchildren, and her 11 great-grandchildren survive Maxine, each of whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William Hulse, on Nov. 16, 1987.
