Funeral services for Cecil E. Rose, 82, will be held at 2pm Friday, April 24, 2009 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Reverend Curtis Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill, Nebraska. Cecil died April 20, 2009 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. A memorial has been established to the Festival of Hope at Regional West Medical Center. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and briefly at the church prior to the service.
Cecil was born March 15, 1927 in Morrill, Nebraska the son of Albert and Grace (Husted) Rose. He grew up and went to school in Henry, Neb. graduating Henry High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952.
He married Elsie Hansen on Sept. 9, 1955 in Lusk, Wyo. He ranched north of Henry all his life and also worked at the Torrington Livestock Commission Company for twenty-seven years.
Cecil enjoyed calf roping and for many years supplied the cows for the wild cow milking contests at the Goshen County Rodeo. He was a past member of the Goshen County Riding and Roping Club, a member of the Texas Longhorn Association, a member of the Wyoming Morgan Horse Association, and enjoyed his time with the Friday Morning Cowboy Coffee Club. Cecil served for many years as a 4-H leader.
Cecil is survived by his wife Elsie of Henry, Neb.; three sons, John (Kerri) Rose of Lingle, Wyo., Bruce (Debbie) Rose of Gordon, Neb., and Gary (Kristi) Rose of Gordon; two daughters, Sena (Russ) Pearson of Lusk, Wyo. and Janet (Marvin) Mueller of Sutherland, Neb.; a sister Marian Chamberlin of Seattle, Wash.; eleven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; six great grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Raymond; one sister Alberta; and two granddaughters, Brittany Mueller and Jenna Rose.
