Services for Austin James will be held in Parker, Colo. on March 6, at the Parker Bible Church at 2 p.m. with interment to follow. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 8 at the Harrison Bible Church at 3 pm. in Harrison, Neb.

Austin Christopher James
Suddenly, as a result of a firearm accident, on Friday February 27th, 2009, Austin Christopher James, Of Lusk, Wyoming, passed away in his 18th year in Franktown, Colorado. Austin was the beloved son of Bradley Earl and Catherine Ann (Proctor) James and brother of Kaitlin Ann James. Austin will be greatly missed by his grandparents William Earl and Charlene Rae James of Franktown, Colorado, Patricia Ann Proctor of Ashland, Nebraska and his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Austin was preceded in death by his grandfather Jerry Proctor of Ashland, Nebraska and uncle David Lee Proctor.
Austin was born in Denver, Colorado and spent his early years on the family's ranch south of Elizabeth, Colorado. He attended Community Baptist Church where he received Jesus Christ as his Savior in his 8th year and was baptized there by Pastor Steve Wicker. Austin attended Trinity Lutheran School in Franktown, Colorado through 4th grade were he had many good friends. He played for the Parker Hawks football team for 4 years.
The family relocated from Elizabeth, Colorado to a ranch north of Lusk, Wyoming in 2001 where Austin attended Niobrara County Middle and High Schools. Austin was a senior at Niobrara County High School and was on the academic honor roll there 6 consecutive quarters. Austin loved sports especially football and track and earned varsity letters in both sports. As a junior he qualified for the state track meet in the 1600 meter run. In his senior year, Austin was the starting left tackle on the NCHS football team. He planned to attend Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado majoring in Geology.
Austin was active in 4H showing market steers in Colorado and Wyoming and exhibited two Grand Champion Steers. He was a member of the Comanche Creek 4H club in Elbert County, Colorado and Fairview 4H club of Niobrara County, Wyoming serving as its president in 2007. He also participated on the 4H judging teams. The senior 4H meats judging team Austin was a member of, was the Wyoming State Champion in 2005. In the same year he and his team went on to become the National Reserve Champion Senior Team.
He enjoyed working on the family ranch and was a vital member who contributed immeasurably. Austin loved to ride his ATV on the ranch and in the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming. He greatly enjoyed the frequent family vacations and camping trips. Austin became an accomplished guitar player and his family enjoyed the songs he frequently performed. Austin was a member of Harrison Bible Church in Harrison, Nebraska and was active in the youth group there.
Funeral services were held March 6, 2009 at Parker Bible Church in Parker, Colorado and interment was at Chapel Hills Cemetery in Littleton, Colorado. A memorial service was held March 8, 2009 in Harrison, Nebraska at Harrison Bible Church where he and his family were members. Both services were officiated by Pastor Matt Parker of Harrison Bible Church.
Austin will be greatly missed along with his ready smile and friendly nature. The family wishes to thank the members of both Parker Bible Church and Harrison Bible Church for their support and assistance. We would also like to thank the many people who have supported us through prayers, visits, cards and donations. Finally we wish to thank Austin's many friends and acquaintances in the communities we have lived who contributed so much to Austin's life, learning and joy. A memorial fund has been established at the Bank of the West in Lusk, Wyoming.
