Lloyd R. Downing Dies at Casper Thurs.
Lloyd R. Downing, 50, died Thursday afternoon at Memorial Hospital in Casper shortly after being stricken by a heart attack. He had lived at 1565 South Elm, and was drilling superintendent for Dyer Drilling Co.
Born Feb. 16, 1901, at Tiona, Pa., he started work as a driller in his early teens. His father was a pioneer oil worker in the Pennsylvania fields. He worked in many of the oil fields in North America and for many years was employed by Fred Manning. During that time he lived here in Lance Creek for several years and was known by many people here.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Bustard Funeral Home. The family requested that contributions to the Shrine Crippled Children's program be made in lieu of flowers. On April 16, 1921, he married Lillian Roberson at Ardmore, Okla. Besides his wife, surviving are a duaghter, Mrs. L. A. Greensides, Kansas, two grandchildren, Maria and Robert Greensides, his mother, Mrs. C. A. Downing, East Smethport, Pa., and one brother, George, of Bowie, Tex.
Mr. Downing was a member of Colbert Lodge 8, A. F. & A. M., Colbert, Okla.; member of Korein Shrine Temple, Rawlins; Casper Shrine Club member; Casper Lodge 1353 B. P. O. E.; and Casper Petroleum Club.
