Maurice Grant Dies At Vet Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.

Maurice George Grant, formerly of Jireh, died at the United States Veterans Hospital at Tuscon, Ariz. Friday, Dec. 5, at the age of 36.

The son of Delia A. and the late George Grant, he was born at Jireh, Feb. 5, 1916 and spent his early life on the ranch near there. He attended school in Jireh and Manville, graduating from the Manville High School in 1934. He then engaged in oil field and construction work in Idaho and Wyoming until his enlistment in the Navy in 1943.

He received a medical discharge in 1945 and then attended business college at Boise, Ida. and later at Tucson, where he had gone for his health.

Besides his mother, surviving are two daughters, Shelly Maurine and Nellie Josephine of Chandler, Ariz. and two brothers, Robert of Winchester, Ida. and Neil of Keeline; also three sisters, Frances Hegglund of Ogden, Utah; Claudia Dalton, Tucson, Ariz., and Mary Germann of Node, Wyo. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Josephine.

Maurice was a member of the Eagles Lodge and also of the American Legion.

The body was brought to Lusk where funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday with the Rev. Jacob Nein of the Congregational Christian Church officiating.

The songs, "Sweetly Resting" and "The Last Mile of the Way" were sung as a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Elder and "Crossing the Bar" was sung as a solo by Frank Kuhn. Mrs. Gerald Bardo was the accompanist at the chapel organ.

Burial was made in the Jireh Cemetery where military honors were conducted by members of Wieten-Dupes Post No. 4 of the American Legion.

Arrangements were in charge of the Peet Mortuary. The casket bearers were Art Joss, Oscar Alexander, Woodson Graham, Emory Gaukel, Dick Heine and Lavonne Pfeifer.

Maurice G. Grant Passes Away In Tucson, Ariz.; Remains Are Brought Here for Last Rites and Interment

Funeral services were conducted at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, December 9th, in the chapel of the Peet Funeral home for the late Maurice George Grant, former resident of the Jireh community, who passed away at the United States Veterans hospital at Tucson, Ariz., on Friday, Dec. 5th.

Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational church of Lusk, officiated at the services with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Elder, of Keeline, singing "Sweetly Resting," and "The Last Mile of the Way." Frank Kuhn offered as a solo, "Crossing the Bar," with Mrs. Jerry Bardo acting as organist.

Interment was made in the cemetery at Jireh with Art Joss, Oscar Alexander, Woodson Graham, Emery Gaukel, Dick Heine and Lavonne Heine serving as pallbearers.

Maurice George Grant, son of Mrs. Delia A. and the late George H. Grant, was born at Jireh, Wyo., February 5th, 1916. He passed away at the Veterans hospital in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday, December 5th, 1952 following several years of illness. At the time of his demise he had attained the age of 36 years, and ten months.

His early life was spent on the family ranch near Jireh. He attended school at Jireh and Manville and was graduated with the class of '34 from the Manville High school. He then became engaged in oil field and construction work in Idaho and Wyoming. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1943, and two years later received a medical discharge. He then attended business college at Boise, Idaho and later at Tucson, where he had gone for his health.

Maurice was also a member of the American Legion and the Eagles lodge.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Della Grant, who has made her home with the deceased for several years, two daughters, Shelly Maurine and Nellie Josephine Grant of Chandler, Ariz.; two brothers, Neil Grant of Keeline, Wyo., and Robert of Winchester, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Hegglund of Ogden, Utah, and Mrs. Claudia Dalton, of Tucson. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Josephine.
