Van Tassell Youth Dies of Polio
Bulbar polio claimed the life of Tommy Lewis, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lewis, from south of Van Tassell, who died Oct. 15 in a hospital at Colorado Springs, Colo.
The young man was a student at Colorado A. & M. College. He had not fully recovered from an accidental injury last year, when his neck was broken in an inter-collegiate wrestling match. Lewis was placed in an iron lung just a week previous to his death.
Funeral services were conducted from the Prairie Center school house on Sunday.
