George O. Lee of Lance Creek Dies

Last rites for George O. Lee, 86, of Lance Creek who died at the Spencer Hospital Saturday night, Sept. 27, were conducted from the Peet Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Leroy Train, Pastor of the Lance Creek Community Church, officiating.

The songs, "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd," were sung as duets by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner, accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson.

Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery with Ivan Maxwell, Leonard Ong, Vernon Lamb, R. S. Burhoop, C. C. Gillespie and Fred Kettler acting as casket bearers. Mr. Lee's obituary is published in the Lance Creek news.

George Lee Obituary

George Osborn Lee, the son of Alfred and Sarah Lee, was born Sept. 3, 1866 at Faribault, Rice County, Minn. He was the youngest of six children.

At the age of six weeks, he moved with his parents to Yankton, S. D. It was here that he attended school and grew to manhood.

On Aug. 20, 1886 he was united in marriage to Nellie Cullen at St. James, Nebr. At this time Mr. Lee was in business at Tyndall, S. D. Six children were born to this union.

The family moved to Murdo, S. D. in 1903 where they homesteaded. From Murdo the family moved to Arkansas and in 1912 came to Wyoming where they homesteaded in the Lance Creek community.

Mr. Lee was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, and five children. Left to mourn his passing are one son, Charles Vincent, of Lance Creek , a granddaughter, Mrs. Ray Crammar, of Powell, who was reared from infancy in their home and 10 other grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

For the past two years Mr. Lee had made his home in Lance Creek with his son Charles and family. He had been in poor health for some time and on the 24th he was taken to the Spencer Hospital where he died Saturday, Sept. 27, at the age of 86 years.

Concluding rites were held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, September 30th, at the chapel of the Peet Funeral home for the late George O. Lee, pioneer resident of Niobrara county. Rev. Leroy Train, pastor of the Community Church of Lance Creek, officiated.

Adding to the services was the singing of "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Lord is My Shepherd," by Mesdames Ab DeCastro and Emerson Bonner with Mrs. J.P. Watson providing the accompaniment.

Bearing the remains to their last resting place in the Lusk cemetery were Fred Kettler, Robert Burhoop, Ivan Maxwell, Leonard Ong, Vernon Lamb and C. C. Gillespie.

George Osborn Lee, the son of Alfred and Sarah Howard Lee, was born September 3rd, 1866 at Fairbault, Rice county, Minn., and departed from this life on Saturday, September 27th, 1952 at the Spencer hospital. At the time of his demise he had attained the age of 86 years and 24 days.

The deceased was the youngest of a family of six children, and while still an infant moved with his parents to Yankton, South Dakota where he attended school and was reared to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Cullen at St. James, Nebr., on August 20th, 1886. This union was blessed with six children. At the time of his marriage, Mr. Lee was in business at Tyndall, So. Dak., and the family moved from there to Murdo, So. Dak., where he homesteaded. He later moved his family to Arkansas where they lived for a short time before coming to Wyoming in 1912 to homestead in the Lance Creek vicinity.

Mr. Lee was a member of the Church of Christ. For the past two years he has made his home with his son, Chas. V. Lee, Sr., and family at Lance Creek. He had been in failing health for sometime and was cared for at the Charles Lee home until Wednesday, Sept. 24th, when he entered the Spencer hospital. His death was attributed to advanced age.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, and five children. Left to mourn his passing is one son, Charles Vincent Lee, Sr., of Lance Creek, a granddaughter, Mrs. Ray Grammer of Powell, Wyo., who was reared from infancy in the Lee home, ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
