Robert Ilsley Dies From Own Bullet Wound in Seattle
Major Robert C. Ilsley, 36, son of Justice and Mrs. Harry P. Ilsley of the Wyoming Supreme Court died in a Seattle hospital Sunday of a self-inflicted bullet wound.
Major Ilsley was found in his apartment Friday with a .45 calibre revolver near him and a bullet wound in his head. Sheriff's officers said they found a note left by Maj. Ilsley indicating he was despondent over family troubles.
Ilsley had returned from duty in Korea and Japan only last March. An attorney, he had practiced law in Great Falls, Mont., and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Survivors include his widow Catherine, three minor children, his parents, and a brother John, County Attorney in Campbell County, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by a brother who was killed during World War II in the invasion of France.
Supreme Court Justice Harry P. Ilsley is a former Judge of the Sixth Judicial District having been just recently appointed to the Wyoming Supreme Court by Governor Barrett.
