Micky Harrington Killed in Crash

Micky Harrington, 25, former resident of Lance Creek, died in a Thermopolis hospital as the result of injuries sustained Friday afternoon when his autombile plunged off the road in the Windriver Canyon.

Funeral services were being held at Riverton this Wednesday and burial is to be at Lusk Thursday afternoon. However at The Herald press time details had not been learned by the Peet Mortuary here.

The accident occurred about 4:00 p.m. as Harrington was enroute to Riverton to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harrington, also former Lance Creek residents. He had been working in Thermopolis.

His car plunged through a guard rail and dove 200 feet into the river. Harrington was found along the bank with both legs broken and head injuries. His car was partially submerged in the stream.

Harrington Funeral Services Are Held in Lusk Thursday

Funeral services for Mickey Donald Harrington, 25, of Thermopolis, were held June 21 from Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jacob Nein pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb, Mrs. Emerson Bonner, Donley Unruh and Harry Lyon sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee". Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist.

Casket bearers were Vernon Lee, Robert Wright, Russell Starr, Charles Sheaman, Owen Harness, Kenneth Hawkins, Dean Long and Eddie Strube.

Military rites were accorded the deceased by members of Wieten-Dupes Post No. 4, American Legion under the direction of Chuck Vaughan.

Mickey Donald Harrington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harrington, of Riverton, was born June 20, 1932 at Gordon, Nebr. He began his education in the public schools in Torrington where he went until the third grade at which time his family moved to Lance Creek where he was graduated from the eighth grade.

He completed three years of High School at Shoshoni, going on his own to work in the oil fields as a floor man until March, 1952 when he was called into the armed forces, where he served two years in the states and 18 months in Hawaii in the Marine Corp.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harrington of Riverton; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Miller of Lance Creek, and four brothers, Leo, Jimmy and Freddie Harrington of Riverton and a brother John in the armed foreces stationed at Fort Eustis, Va. One brother, Darrold Lloyd previously died.
