Thomas A. Bower

Longtime Niobrara County rancher Thomas A. Bower, 79, died at his ranch last Friday.

He had been a cattle rancher for the last 51 years, moving to his ranch north of Lance Creek in 1954.

A native of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Mr. Bower was one of 10 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bower.

The family moved to Nebraska when Tom was a small child and there he grew to manhood. In the mid-1920's, he moved to Wyoming.

He married Myrtle (Midge) Pirnie in 1928 at Broken Bow, Neb., and together they entered the cattle business.

They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 2, 1978.

Mr. Bower is survived by his wife; three brothers, Perl of Wolbach, Neb., Bud and Jesse of Escalon, Calif., and three sisters, Millie Hetrick of San Leandro, Calif., Ardella Robertson and Odetta Lewis, both of Escalon.

The Rev. Frank Blish officiated at a Tuesday service at Peet Mortuary.

The organist was Minerva Watson and the singers were Carolyn Hammond and Cindy Mosier. The songs were "Sweet Bye and Bye" and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Burial was at Lusk Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ted Pennington, Andy and Elmer Nelson, Clem Mosier, Raime Fosher and Pat Miller.
