Judge William Cyrus Mentzer
JUDGE MENTZER PASSES AWAY
Cheyenne - W. C. Mentzer, former judge of the first judicial district of Wyoming, and a resident of Cheyenne for more than 20 years, died here Monday at Memorial Hospital, following a stroke of paralysis suffered last Saturday. He was 60 years of age.
Mr. Mentzer was elected judge of the First judicial district in 1913 and served until 1922 when he resigned to resume his private practice. Judge Mentzer suffered a stroke last May when he was delivering an address at the dedication of the Wyoming tuberculosis sanitarium at Basin.
Judge Mentzer was well known and had many friends in Lusk. While on the bench he presided as judge of this district, of which Niobrara county was a part. He was a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to Wyoming Consistory No. 1 at Cheyenne and was a member of the Presbyterian church.
