Geo. Rice Dies at Hat Creek
George H. Rice, a well known and highly respected citizen of the Hat Creek community, passed away at the home of his daughter near Hat Creek last Saturday, January 18, at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 12 days.
Mrs. Rice was taken ill last August, and had never been able to regain his health.
Services, with Rev. B. F. Farrar officiating, were held at the home on Monday afternoon, and interment was made in the private cemetery on the home ranch.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Peet Undertaking Parlor.
George H. Rice was born near LaSalle, Illinois, July 12, 1849, and there grew to manhood. In December 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Jane Penny.
In 1875 the family moved to Downa, Kansas, and from there came to Wyoming in 1913, and settled near Hat Creek, where they have since resided.
The deceased is mourned by three sons, George and Ben Rice, of Hat Creek; Charles Rice, whose present address is unknown, and three daughters, Mrs. Loretta Clark of Hat Creek; Mrs. Edith Goeden of Cedarburg, Wis., and Mrs. Cleora Birdsell of Jewell, Kansas.
Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Birdsall and Messrs, George and Ben Rice and families were present at the services.
