Matilda Klaresa Johnson was born in Sweden, near the town of Grenna, in the province of Smoland, January 22, 1865. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Johnson, and the youngest of ten children. She came to America in 1888 coming to Central City, Neb. where a sister and brother lived. After spending six years there she and her brother, Adolph, came to Wyoming in 1894 and settled on the place now known as the Robert Burhoop ranch near Manville.
Her brother died in 1905 and at that time Miss Johnson moved into Manville where she made her home until becoming very ill about six months ago. She was brought to Lusk and cared for by Mrs. Ida Peterson and later by Mrs. Manring.
Before leaving Sweden she was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.
Her only known surviving reltives are two neices, Mrs. Robert Burhoop of Manville and Mrs. Ernest Holsapple of Oklahoma.
