MRS. CHRIST RUFFING PASSES AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Funeral of Wife of Former Commissioner to Be Held Friday A. M. From St. Leo's

Mrs. Gertrude Marking Ruffing, 55 years old, resident of this community for the past 34 years, and husband of Former County Commissioner Christ Ruffing, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bob Himes, in Lusk, Tuesday evening, at about 7:30. The immediate cause of death was a blood clot which clogged up an area of the brain, giving a condition not unlike a stroke of apoplexy.

Mrs. Ruffing's condition has remained practically hopeless for many months and her passing relieved further suffering from her affliction.

Every effort possible was made to save her life. She was taken away for treatment, but to no avail.

Funeral services will be held at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Friday, May 5, at 10:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Midwest Mortuary, and interment will be made in the Lusk Cemetery.

Gertrude Marking Ruffing was born at West Point, Nebraska, December 1, 1877, and died at Lusk, Wyoming, May 2, 1933, at the age of 55 years, 5 months and 1 day. She grew to young womanhood at her Nebraska home, and on August 7, 1899, was united in marriage with Christ Ruffing. On the day following the wedding the happy couple moved to the Lusk community, which has been their home for the past 34 years.

To this union nine children were born: Luella, Henry, Jennings, Albert and Thelma who live in Lusk or at the ranch home; Mrs. Monica Erny, of Alliance, Neb.; Beatrice Avenell, Edgemont, S. D.; Edward, of Wheatland, Wyo., and Robert, who is stationed with the U. S. Navy at New London, Conn.

There also remain her husband, Mr. Christ Ruffing of Lusk, and four brothers, Joseph Marking, Sand Point, Idaho; John Marking, Harrison, Neb.; William Marking, Edgemont, S. D., and Louie Marking of Denver, Colo., and four sisters, Christina Mecham of Crawford, Neb.; Anna Wasserburger, Orella, Neb., and Agnes Andrews of Harrison, Neb., to mourn her passing.

All children, with the exception of Robert, and all brothers and sisters, except Joesph, Louie and Mrs. Mecham, who is seriously ill at Crawford will attend the funeral.

The pallbearers will be Hans Meng, Ira Thomas, Jacob Wahl, Ed Arnold, Claris David and Edw. Pfister.

Mrs. C. Ruffing Dies Here After Long Suffering

Mrs. Gertrude Marking Ruffing, wife of Christ Ruffing, former county commissioner, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Luella Himes, at 7:45 o'clock Tuesday evening, May 2nd. Her death brought to an end several months of suffering and serious illness, many times during which her life was despaired of. Mrs. Ruffing had been a sufferer of a heart ailment for the past three years, and the direct cause of her demise was given as cerebral thrombosis. She had been in an unconscious state for the past two weeks.

Funeral services will be held from St. Leo's Catholic church tomorrow (Friday) morning at 10:30 o'clock with arrangements under direction of the Midwest mortuary. Interment will be had in the Lusk cemetery.

Deceased was born in West Point, Nebr., December 1, 1877, being at the time of death, 55 years, 5 months and one day of age.

On August 7, 1899, she was married to Christ Ruffing, and the following day, August 8th, the couple moved to this county, locating on the place where the family now resides, near Hat Creek.

To this couple were born eleven children, nine of whom beside the husband, survive to mourn this bereavement. They are Mrs. Monica Ernie of Alliance, Nebr.; Mrs. Beatrice Avenell of Edgemont, S. Dak.; Mrs. Luella Himes, of this city; and Miss Thelma Ruffing of Hat Creek; Edward of Wheatland; Robert, of New London, Conn.; and Henry Jennings and Albert, all of this city.

Four sisters and four brothers also are left to grieve. They are Mrs. Christina Mecham, Crawford, Nebr.; Mrs. Anna Wasserburger and Mrs. Agnes Andrews, of Harrison, Nebr., and Mrs. Frances Wasserburger, of Orrella, Nebr.; Joseph Marking, of Sand Point, Ida.; John Marking, Harrison, Nebr.; William Marking, of Edgemont, S. Dak., and Louie Marking, of Denver, Colo.

The community unites in extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved in their hour of sorrow.
