Janice Mary Davies
Janice Mary Davies
Janice Mary Davies passed away March 7, 2008, in Lusk after a very brief illness. A memorial service will be held at The Westernville Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 11 a.m.
She was doing what she loved to do, which was spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren, Derek, Abigayle, and Brooklynn Davies.
Janice was born in Somerset, NY on May 9, 1940, to Dewey and Luella Payne. She graduated from Barker High School in Barker, NY in 1957. She attended the Rochester Business Institute in Rochester, NY where she met her husband John Davies. They were married on Dec. 31, 1960 in County Line, NY. They resided in several different places: Berlin, Germany; Minnesota; and Pennsylvania before settling in Westernville, NY in 1965. They have resided there ever since. Janice was employed at Rome Hospital in the X-Ray department as a secretary. She retired in 1997 after 30 years of employment. She has been involved in many organizations, including the Rome Jayne Cees, which she served as president; The Westernville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; The Westernville Historical Society; and was a member of The Westernville Presbyterian Church. Janice had a special gift of loving everyone and being loved by many. She loved to travel with her husband John in their fifth wheel camper. They made numerous friends throughout the country and enjoyed every minute of retirement. She also loved to spoil her grandkids, and was fortunate to meet her twin granddaughters on Feb. 26, 2008, the day they were born.
Janice was preceded in death by her mother Luella and father Dewey Payne; her two brothers, Ronald Payne (wife Nancy Huntington) and Norman Payne; father-in-law Robert Davies; mother-in-law Elizabeth Davies; and brother-in-law Hugh Davies. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband John Davies of Westernville, NY; her son Evan Davies and wife Iris, her grandchildren Derek, Abigayle, and Brooklynn Davies of Lusk; her brother-in-law Robert Davies of Eagle Valley, NY; brother-in-law James Davies and wife Theo of Fairport, NY. She also leaves behind many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers the family would encourage donations to The Westernville Presbyterian Church or The Westernville Public Library.
