Samuel Poff Dies At Manville Sun.

Samuel Poff, a long time resident of Manville, died at his home there Sunday evening, March 16. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with interment in the Manville cemetery.

Mr. Poff has been engaged in ranching and farming most of his life. Among the survivors are two sons, Floyd of New York and William S. of Casper and three daughters, Mrs. Florence Walden of Iowa, Mrs. Clyde Baker and another daughter of Brighton, Colo.

Poff Services Are Held Thursday

Funeral services for Samuel A. Porter (Poff) 75, were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Thursday afternoon, March 20 at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Frank Schweissing, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. A.F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson.

The casket bearers were Fred Kletter, Ernest Schuricht, O.M. Rasmusen, Harry Newton, James Alsup and T.L. Cantwell. Interment was made in the Manville cemetery.

Mr. Poff had been afflicted with a heart ailment for some time and was receiving treatments in Casper but came to Lusk with K. Dean Butler and Chuck Vaughan and entered the Manring Convalescent Home on Friday and died the following Sunday morning, March 16.

Samuel Arthur Poff was born June 19, 1876 at Bell Center, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Poff. He came westward with the family while a young man and settled in Kansas and later in eastern Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Ann Kelley at Pueblo, Colorado and they are the parents of six children. They came to Wyoming in 1913 and homesteaded north of Manville where Mr. Poff was engaged in farming until he retired a few years ago.

He is survived by his widow Mrs. Margaret Poff of Brighton, Colo., two sons, Floyd Poff of Syracuse, N.Y., and William Poff of Casper; three daughters, Mrs. Maye Baker and Mrs. Ruth Luft of Brighton, Colo.; and Mrs. Florence Walden of Lamont, Ia.; and Mrs. Lulu Warner of Goodland, Kans.; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Hazel Brooks, preceded him in death, passing away June 11, 1951.
