Margaret Moreland Dies at Age 73

Wednesday, 3:30 a.m. Mrs. Margaret Moreland, 73, died in the Lusk Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted from the Peet Chapel in this city Sunday at 2:30 with the Rev. Clyde E. Hampton officiating.

Mrs. Moreland was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Moreland. Survivors include her seven children, Mrs. Claude Shepherd, Lusk; Paul, Seattle, Wash.; James and William of Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Ed Peifer, Bloomington, Ill.; Mrs. J. M. Robertson, Eatonville, Wash.; Rola Moreland, Thermopolis; a sister, Mrs. Anna Jordine, Bloomington, Ill., and a brother, Sam Moreland of Peoria, Ill.

Margaret Moreland Funeral Services Are Held Sunday

Last rites were conducted by the Rev. Clyde E. Hampton from the Peet Chapel, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 for Mrs. Margaret L. Moreland, who died Wednesday morning after a long illness. Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery.

"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "This World Is Not Home" were sung by a quartet comprising Palmer Watson, Rex Yocum, Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, Mrs. Emerson Bonner. Mrs. Roger Percival sang sang "In the Garden,". The music and accompaniments were provided by Mrs. Minerva Watson at the chapel organ.

Pallbearers were Fred Bertram, John Boatright, Reuben Johnson, Robert Black, Luther Penfield, and Joe O'Brien.

Margaret Lucinda Moreland was born October 12, 1876 to Daniel K. and Mary McVey Moreland; one of seven children. She spent her early life in Bloomington, Ill. and it was there that on October 2, 1895 she married Charles Stanton Moreland. They are the parents of seven children, all of whom survive their parents.

The family settled east of Lusk in 1919; they operated a dairy there. From this location they moved to Missouri and then to Illinois.

When Mr. Moreland died on June 23, 1928, Mrs. Moreland moved to Lusk and made her home here. She was employed by Mrs. E.C. Marsh in the Lusk Hospital for 13 years. For the past several years she had been retired.

Mrs. Moreland died in the Lusk hospital June 28, after an illness of several years. Three months ago she became seriously ill and was taken to the General Rose Memorial Hospital in Denver for an operation. She was brought home from Denver and spent the time until her death in the local hospital.

She is survived by four sons, Paul K. Moreland of Kent, Wash,; William C. and James E. Moreland of Oakland, Calif.; Raleigh H. Moreland of Thermopolis, Wyo.; three daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Peifer, Bloomington, Ill.; Mrs. Anna M. Robertson of Eatonville, Wash., and Mrs. Mae Shepard, Lusk, Wyo.; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Anna Jordine, of Bloomington, Ill, and a brother, Samuel Moreland of Peoria, Ill., also survive.
