Henry Sherman Dies Fri. at Age 78
Henry Edwin Sherman, 78, died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital Friday morning after suffering a heart attack the Sunday before. Funeral services were held Sunday from the Peet Chapel at two o'clock with burial in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mr. Sherman was born in Iowa County, Wis., Sept. 2, 1873, the son of Theodore and Mary Sherman. When he was a small boy the family moved westward to Mineola, Neb. and later to Merriman where he grew to manhood.
March 10, 1896 he was married to Mary Luella Cass and to them nine children were born. In 1928 the family came to Niobrara County living here since.
He is survived by his widow in Lusk and by seven children; Clifford and Harold Sherman and Mrs. Joe Hutchison of Valentine, Neb.; Delois Sherman, Mrs. A.E. Anderson, Mrs. George Sylvester and Mrs. Henry Pfister of Lusk. There are 26 grandchildren and 113 great grandchildren. Two daughters, Alice Parker at 25 and Blance at 14, previously died.
Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Sherman of White River, S.D., and Harry of Ainsworth, Neb., and one sister, Mrs. Wm Hicks of Martin, S.D.
Funeral services were conducted by Dallas Swisher of Manville of the faith of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mrs. Fred Hartnett and Miss Connie Hartnett of Casper sang "Living Up to the Name" and "The News of the Kingdom" accompanied by Mrs. Ed Reasoner of Casper.
Casketbearers were Clarence Simons, R.V. Pfister, Eddie marks, Dave Wood, Ira Teeter and Arthur Grimes.

Funeral Services for Henry Edwin Sherman Held Sunday Afternoon; Interment Made in Lusk Cemetery
Concluding rites were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon for the late Henry Edwin Sherman, long-time resident of Niobrara County, who passed away Friday morning, August 1st, at the family home. Dallas Swisher of Manville, of the faith of Jehovah's Witnesses, conducted the services held in the chapel of the Peet Funeral home.
Adding to the services was the singing of "Living Up to the Name," and "The News of the Kingdom," sung by Mrs. Fred Hartnett and Miss Connie Hartnett with organ accompaniment by Mrs. Ed Reasoner, all of Casper, Wyo.
The remains were borne to their final resting place in the Lusk cemetery by Clarence Simons, R. V. Pfister, Eddie Marks, Dave Wood, Arthur Grimes and Ira Teeter.
Henry Edwin Sherman was born on September 2nd, 1873 in Iowa County, Wis., the son of Theodore and Mary Sherman. When he was a small lad the family moved westward to Mineola, Nebr., and a few years later to Merriman, Nebr.
At Merriman, he grew to manhood, and it was here that he met and married Mary Luella Luella Cass. To this union nine children were born. In 1928, the family moved to Niobrara County, Wyo., which has been their home since that time.
Following a short illness, Mr. Sherman passed away at the family home in Lusk on Friday morning, August 1st, 1952, having attained the age of 78 years, 10 months and 28 days.
