Cyrus O. Wertz Dies in Texas
Word of the death of Cyrus 0. Wertz, former business man of Lusk, has been received here.
Mr. Wertz died at his home in Houston, Texas, on January 28th, and funeral services were conducted there the following day, after which the remains were shipped to Harrison, Neb., where interment was made in the family plot there on Tuesday, January 31, with services being conducted at the grave.
Cyrus O. Wertz was born June 3, 1873, at Lawrence, Kansas. In 1875 his parents moved to Tipton, Iowa, where they lived until 1887, when they moved to Omaha, Neb.
As a young man he worked in various railroad offices and in 1906 came to Sioux County, Nebraska, and filed on a homestead south of Harrison. In 1915 Mr. Wertz was elected county clerk of Sioux County, which position he held for four years. And here he was married to Edna H. Rowher, and the couple then moved to Lusk, Wyoming, where Mr. Wertz opened an abstract office.
After living in Lusk for a number of years, Mr. and Mrs. Wertz moved to Casper, where Mr. Wertx served as county assessor of Natrona County, after which
He became State oil inspector for the State of Wyoming with headquarters in Cheyenne.
For the past 14 years he has been living in Texas. He is survived by his widow, Edna, and some nieces and nephews.
