Velma Wilson, 90, died at her home Dec. 3, 2007, in Payson, Ariz. Mrs. Wilson was born in Gordon, Neb., Nov. 10, 1917.
As a young girl she traveled by covered wagon from Nebraska to a homestead in Lance Creek, living in a sod house, which became a successful ranch and farm. During World War II, she and her husband, Ted Wilson, built ships and served their country.
Her surviving son, Leroy Wilson of New Mexico, was in Payson celebrating her birthday and Thanksgiving, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, which were the light of her life.
Her hobbies included bowling, cards, crafts and traveling. Her carefree high school days were those she wished she could relive.
She attended business college in Denver and Sacramento, Calif. She operated several businesses during her life.
Her ashes will be placed by her father, mother and brother, in Lusk.
