Mrs. John Wright Dies at Shawnee
Mrs. Sophrona Jane Wright, 79, a Converse County resident since 1917, passed away at her home in Shawnee Wednesday, December 28. She had been in failing health for a long time.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Stark Chapel, with Rev. Glen Burris in charge. Burial was in the Douglas Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were John York, Lyle Cunningham, Tom York, Fred Hageman, Earl York and Freeman Nason.
Sophrona Jane Dickerson was born November 5, 1870, at Lebanon, Ind., the daughter of John and Jane Dickerson.
She was married to George Davisson. To this union eight children were born. Mr. Davisson and six of the children preceded her in death.
She moved from Nebraska to a ranch north of Shawnee in the year 1917, and was united in marriage with John E. Wright on August 8, 1921, at Douglas. The couple had resided at Shawnee since their marriage.
She passed away at her home in Shawnee December 28, 1949, at 9:00 o'clock a.m., after a long illness, at the age of 79 years, one month and 23 days.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, Frank Davisson of Akron, Colo., and Newton J. Davisson of Wallace, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors.
