Clifford Blaney

Memorial service for life-long area resident Clifford Blaney was held last Friday, Feb. 4, at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Beauferd Anderson officiating.

Clifford Charles Blaney was born Sept. 1, 1929, at Flat top, west of Lusk. He died February 1 at the Veteran's Hospital in Cheyenne at the age of 53. He spent his life in and around the Lusk area, except for a seven-month tour of service with the U.S. Army during 1951. He was discharged for medical reasons.

Following his discharge, he returned to Lusk and worked at various jobs in the community. In 1953, he met and married Clarabelle Smith and they were the parents of seven children. On November 25, 1981, he and Betty J. Stull were married.

Ruth Hahn was organist at the memorial service. Liz Henderson and Carolyn Metcalf sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Just As I Am". Active pallbearers were Earl Moss, Clifford Ferris, Robert Baker, Richard Pfister, LeRoy Schrader and Mike Kant.

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Clifford Blaney is survived by his wife Betty, one sister Mae Hoyt of Douglas; two brothers William, Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Robert, Lance Creek; his seven children, Delbert, Valinda Brott, Samual and Betty L., all of Lusk, Debra Jacobs, Worland; Roka, Austin, Tex. and LaVelda Wickwire, Casper; seven grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
