Ruth H. Fleming

Funeral services for Ruth H. Fleming, 92, were held Nov. 5, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Pier Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Lohr officiating.

Ruth was born Oct. 23, 1915 to Art and Eva Hitchcock in Edgemont, S.D. She passed away Oct. 31, 2007.

While growing up, she lived on ranches north of Lusk. Ruth received her cosmetology license and worked in several beauty shops, as well as out of her home. Ruth married Elmer J. Fleming in Hot Springs, S.D., on May 31, 1939. To this union, a daughter was born, Carol Jean, on Sept. 18, 1940. Ruth accompanied Elmer across the state of Wyoming while he worked construction jobs. Elmer and Ruth later moved to Lusk where they enjoyed their home. Ruth lived in her home until health reasons caused her to move to Cozy Corner Inn, where she lived for the past eight years.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Jean Quintard, of Harrison, Neb.; grandchildren Misty Skavdahl and husband Phillip of Harrison, Neb., Casey Quintard and special friend Gloria of LaBarge; great-grandchildren Echo Juhnke and husband Chris, and Amber Skavdahl of Harrison, Neb., Tucker and Hadley Quintard of Big Piney, Donnell, Colt and Wyatt Quintard of Marbleton; great-great-grandchildren Karlee and Kaylee Juhnke, and Shane Gluth of Harrison, Neb.; sister Ruby Brown and husband Harry of Lusk, numerous nieces and nephews and special caregivers from Cozy Corner Inn.

Preceding Ruth in death were her parents; husband; two sisters, Rose Wolfe and Fern Wolfe; and son-in-law Bruce Quintard.

Interment will be in the Lusk Cemetery.

A memorial has been established and may be sent to Security First Bank; P.O. Box 216, Harrison, NE 69346.
