Max Steck of Manville Dies Wed.

Max Steck of Manville passed away at the Spencer Hospital at 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 4.

He had been a resident of the Mnnville community for the past 25 or 30 years and was admitted to the hospital the past week.

A sister arrived today (Wednesday) but as The Herald goes to press no details in regard to the funeral arrangements are available, but a full acount. of the funeral and obituary will be pub1ished in next week's Herald.

Note: The Lusk Cemetery records and draft registration spell the name as Max Stecks.

Services Held Fri. For Max Stecks

Funeral services for Max F. Stecks, 65, who died at the Spencer Hospital on May 4, were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Friday, May 6.

Rev. C.E. Hampton officiated at the service and the songs "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sung by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Dorothy McDaniels, accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery and friends conveying the remains to the final resting place were Fred Kettler, T.L. Cantwell, William Poff, Sam Blaney, 0. M. Rasmusen and Mr. Schuricht.

Max Frederick Stecks was born April 13, 1884, at Fremont, Neb, the son of Markus and Sophie Stecks. When six years old he moved with his family to Scribner, Neb., and later to Nickerson, Neb., where he grew to manhood.

In 1908 he came to Wyoming and took up a homestead in the Manville vicinity and later sold his place and moved into Manville, where he has since resided, thus having made Wyoming his home for 41 years.

Mr. Stecks has been in failing health for some time and his sister, Mrs. Lena Diehl of Fremont, Neb., has been here caring for him for several months. He passed away at the Spencer Hospital in Lusk on May 4, where he had been a patient for a short time prior to his death.

Besides his sister, Mrs. Lena Diehl, he is survived by a brother, Peter C. Stecks of Kimball, Neb., and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters and two brothers have preceded him in death.
