Theron Blackmore dies in Texas

Funeral service for Theron Blackmore, 69, was held at the Peet Mortuary Monday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Bolinger officiating. Mrs. Edna DeCastro, organist, accompanied Mark Lohr as he sang "Just As I Am".

Honorary bearers were Harry Fernau Sr., Floyd Simon, Floyd McLain, Howard Eikenberry, Tom McCullough and Baldy Thomas. Casket bearers were Floyd McCleery, Paul Morgan, Orville Allen, Paul Heany, Ben Sturman and Jerry Sturman. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Mr. Blackmore died at Center Pavillion Hospital, in Houston, Tex., Jan. 29.

Theron A. Blackmore was born July 5, 1906 at Orchard, Neb., the son of William and Lela Blackmore. The Blackmores brought their family to Wyoming in 1911 and homesteaded in the Royal Valley Community. Theron attended the country school and graduated from Lusk High School in 1925. He married Lola Porter in Lusk in 1926, and they moved to Midwest where he worked in the oil field. The family moved to Lusk in 1937 and he worked at Lance Creek. In 1957 he moved to Casper where he worked for a trucking firm until his retirement. Due to failing health he moved to Houston, Tex., to make his home with his daughter, Shirley Heyl.

He is survived by his children Thera Trabert, Chadron, Neb.; Gene Blackmore, Sacramento, Calif.; Shirley Heyl and Bill Blackmore, Houston, Tex.; Bob Blackmore, Lakewood, Colo.; John Blackmore, Bay Town, Tex.; and Marcia Schmidt, Land O'Lakes, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four brothers Clyde of Lusk, Harold of McCleery, Wash., Guy of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bruce of Dallas, Tex.; one sister Anna May Lint, Alexandria, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Ed, Clifford, Merlin, Leroy, Delmar and Bobby.
