Funeral services for Doctor Elmer Holberg, 89, will be held Thursday, October 27, 1988 at 1:00 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas. Doctor Thomas E. Hartshorn will be officiating. Interment will be in Douglas Park Cemetery.

Doctor Holberg died Sunday, October 23, 1988 at his home in Douglas following a long illness.

He was born October 7, 1899 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of John L. and Charlotte (Anderson) Holberg. He was reared and educated at Orchard, Nebraska, graduating from the Orchard High School. He attended the Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, NE where he received his teaching certificate. He worked in a bank, taught school, and was a tobacco salesman. He then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and then entered the Palmer School of Chiropractors in Davenport, IA. He practiced chiropractics in Nebraska and Wyoming from 1926 to 1983 at which time he retired. He did post graduate work in Chicago. He was married to Grace I. Ellis on May 22, 1922 in Ainsworth, NE. They moved to Douglas, WY in the fall, 1940 and remained a resident here until the time of his death. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and was a past member of the 100F and the Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish and bird and deer hunt, and was interested in black and white photography.

He is survived by his wife, Grace of Douglas; two sons, Birney of Glenrock, WY and Ben of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one daughter, Bonnie Jean Holberg-Conley of Douglas; one brother, Doctor Walter Holberg of Buena Park, CA; 14 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Beatrice Hafenberck; two brothers; and three sisters.

A memorial to the Congregational United church of Christ would be equally appreciated by the family.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
