Henry L. DeGering, 92, Laid at Rest In Lusk Cemetery Tuesday; Had Been Living in Cameron Home at Douglas
Henry L. DeGering passed away Saturday, November 26th, in Douglas, Wyo., where he had for the past three years made his home at the Cameron Rest home in that city. At the time of his demise, however, he was a patient in the Douglas Memorial hospital.
Rev. Lawrence P. Juell, pastor of the Congregational Christian church, officiated at the rites which were conducted at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, November 29th, in the chapel of the Peet funeral home.
Mrs. Ab DeCastro and Mrs. H.J. Templeton sang as vocal duets, "Lead Kindly Light," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. J.P. Watson presided at the chapel organ.
Bearing the remains to their last resting place in the Lusk cemetery were Oscar Jones, Wm. Smyth, Christ Ruffing, John Hoffman, Lloyd Younkin and Emerson Himes.
Henry L. DeGering was born November 7, 1857 in LeHigh County, Pa. While still a boy, he came to Western Nebraska with his parents where he lived until a young man.
In the fall of 1879, he came to Wyoming in company with Temple Smith who later became his father-in-law on a hunting trip on the Laramie plains, for the purpose of hunting and selling wild game to a Union Pacific railroad camp.
He returned the following year, 1880, to Wyoming and lived in this state the balance of his lie.
He was united in marriage to Miss Charlotte Smith of North Platte, Nebraska, on April 1, 1883. To this union five children were born, these being Albert DeGering of Hat Creek, Wyo.; Mrs. Eva Ryan of Wheatland, Wyo.; Ray DeGering of Lance Creek, Wyo.; Mrs. Gailey Sullenberger of Auburn, Wah.; and a daughter, Mrs. Rose Stanfield, who at the time of her demise was living in Cheyenne, Wyo.
For a number of years after coming to Wyoming, the deceased worked for different cow outfits on the Laramie River and vicinity. He later, with his family, settled on a place on Cottonwood Creek near Wendover.
In 1915, he came to Niobrara county and filed a homestead near the Seaman hills, where for many years he engaged in the ranching business. For the past three years he made his home in Douglas. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 92 years and 19 days.

Henry DeGering Dies At Douglas
Last rites for Henry L. DeGering, 92, were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased is the father of Albert DeGering of Hat Creek and Ray DeGering of Lance Creek. He has lived at the Douglas Rest Home in Douglas for the past three years and died at the Memorial Hospital there on November 26.
Rev. Lawrence P. Juell officiated at the services with the songs, "Lead Kindly Light" and "Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere" being sung by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. H.J. Templeton, accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson.
Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery with the casket bearers being Oscar Jones, Wm. Smyth, Christ Ruffing, John Hoffman, Floyd Younkin and Emerson Himes.
Henry L. DeGering was born Nov. 7, 1857 in Leheigh County, Pa. While still a boy he came to western Nebraska with his parents and lived there until the fall of 1879 when he come to Wyoming in company with Temple Smith, who later became his father-in-1aw. They were on a hunting trip on the Laramie Plains for wild game, the meat of which they sold to the Union Pacific Railroad camp.
The following year he came back to Wyoming and remained here the rest of his life.
An April 1, 1883, he was married to Charlotte Smith of North Platte, Nebr., and they became the parents of five children.
For a number of years after coming to Wyoming he worked for various cow outfits on the Laramie River and vicinity and later settled with his family on Cottonwood near Wendover.
In 1915 he came to Niobrara County and filed on a homestead near the Seaman Hills some thirty miles north of Lusk.
One daughter, Mrs. Rose Stanfield of Cheyenne has preceded her father in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gailey Sullenberger of Auburn, Wash., and Mrs. Eva Ryan of Wheatland, and two sons, Albert DeGering of Hat Creek and Ray DeGering of Lance Creek.
