Mass of Christian burial for Anna Fruth, 95, was held August 20, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, SD. Father Raymond Deisch officiated. Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Sturgis. She died August 17, 1988 at the Sturgis Long-Term Care Center. A memorial has been established to the church building fund.
She was born March 18, 1893 in Luxembourg to John and Susan (Kirch) Even. She came to the United States in 1910 and settled in the Sturgis area.
She married Leonard Weber on April 23, 1912. He died in 1930 and she married Henry Fruth on April 23, 1933. She was employed at the Scollard Hotel and at the Meade County Courthouse. Henry died in 1944.
She lived in Sturgis all her life and became a resident of the Long-Term Care Center in December of 1987. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Altar Society and St. Veronica Circle.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Dorothy Weber, LaCrescenta, CA; one son, Pete Weber, Sturgis; one sister, Katherine Rockne, Lusk, WY; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; four sisters, four brothers; and one step daughter.
