Funeral services for Gladys L. Edison, 90, were held Monday, November 7, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Douglas with Reverend Delbert Dick of American Missionary Fellowship officating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery. Mrs. Edison died Friday, November 4, 1988 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas following a short illness.
She was born March 20, 1898 at Amelia, Nebraska the daughter of Ollen W. and Avenella Cotta (Hiatt) Baker. She was reared and educated in Atkinson, Nebraska. She was married to Alfred Edwin Edison on March 30, 1918 at O'Neill, Nebraska.
She is survived by her son, Fay, of the family homestead north of Shawnee; her daughter, Mrs. Larry (Arlene) Eddy of Keeline; her brother, Donald Baker of Casper; five grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in March, 1970; two brothers, Ralph and Darrol Baker; and one granddaughter, Dona Eddy in 1981.
Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Riehle, Jim Whiting, Charles Reese, Dick Wortham, Roy Chamberlain, and John Bey.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were all of her many friends.
A memorial to the First Baptist Church, or the American Missionary Fellowship, or the choice of the donor would be equally appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
