Kenneth Lee Blackmore

Funeral services for former Lusk resident, Kenneth Lee Blackmore, age 56, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 1997, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Reverend Delia Fay officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery next to his dad.

Ken died September 29, 1997, from head injuries sustained in an assault. His family delayed taking him off life support so his organs and tissue could be donated for transplant.

Ken was born July 17, 1941, in Grants Pass, Oregon, to Clifford and Elmira Cole Blackmore. He and his sister, Delores, were brought back to Wyoming as young children and were raised by Harry and Thelma Sparks Carlisle after the death of their father. He graduated from Niobrara County High School and attended the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, S.D. He then served in the U.S. Army for two years. He moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1966 and after years of service, retired from the Wyoming Department of Transportation in 1995.

He then moved to South Carolina to be near his daughter, Chanda Enell, her husband Brian, and his grandchildren, Victoria Anne and Kathleen Brooke. Ken has spent the past two years traveling around the United States visiting friends and relatives and attending stock car races.

He is also survived by his two sisters, Delores Strilowich of Ridgefield, Connecticut and Connie Miller of Boerne, Texas and several nieces and nephews.

For those who wish, memorials to the donor's choice will be appreciated by the family.
