Infant Girl Dies While Family Travels Between Lingle-Lusk
An infant girl died Monday at 9:00 o'clock of suffocation while her parents were enroute between Lingle and Lusk.
She was Meredith Ann, 10-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene E. Coberly of Igloo. The parents and two other little children had been to Scottsbluff visiting and were returning to Igloo where he is employed.
The baby had had chicken pox and more recently a severe cold, but had not had medical attention. Some distance north of Lingle the parents noticed that she grew extremely weak and tried to rush on to Lusk, but she was declared dead when they reached the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.
An autopsy failed to reveal any definite cause of the suffocation although it is presumed that mucous or the milk which it had previously taken in nursing had been coughed into the breathing channel, Coroner George Earl Peet said.
The child was buried at Scottsbluff the same day.
