Hattie McFarland Dies in Lusk Fri.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 from the chapel of the Stark funeral Home at Douglas for Hattie Clara Mcfarland who died at the Spencer Hospital in Lusk Oct. 16 at the age of 80.
Hattie Clara Berger was born Aug. 14, 1873 in Butler County, Nebr. She attended school at Columbus, and taught in and around that city for six years. May 11, 1897 she was united in marriage to George B. McFarland. Three children were born, Harry, Alice and George. In 1916 the family moved to Shawnee, Wyo. where they homesteaded, later operating the hotel in Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in August 1938. For the past four years she has made her home with her daughter in Lusk, Mrs. Alice McFarland Johnson, spendinq considerable time with relatives in Columbus.
Survivors are: three children, Harry of Denver, Alice McFarland Johnson of Lusk, and George of Casper; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Viergutz and Mrs. John Kluever, both of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Interment was in the Douglas Cemetery.
