James Rasmussen, 62, Dies Sunday After Long Illness
James C. Rasmussen, 62, died Sunday night at memorial hospital after a long illness.
He was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Laramie and was raised there. He went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad in Laramie on May 8, 1925 as a machinist. He worked for the railroad until April 14, 1946.
He moved to Casper in 1947 and worked at Western Oil Tool and Manufacturing Co. in Mills as a machinist. He was employed there at the time of his death.
He married Mary Ellen Starks on March 28, 1959, in Laramie. His first wife, the former Enid Marsh, whom he married in 1936, died in 1958.
He was a member of Casper Lodge No. 15 AF&AM, Capitol Chapter No. 8 RAM and BPO Wlks No. 1353 in which he was active on the committee visiting the sick and shut-in for several years. He was named Elk of the Year in 1970.
He is survived by his widow; one son, James M. of South Fork, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Marsha Leetch of Casper; three brothers, Andy of Spokane, Wash., Rudy of Los Angeles and Julian of Cheyenne; one sister, Mrs. Helen Hovick of Laramie and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Cornett's Hillside Mortuary from noon Tuesday until noon Wednesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Arch M. Hewitt officiating. Interment will be in Natrona Memorial Gardens with graveside services by Casper Elks Lodge No. 1353.
