Funeral services for Rosie Glandt, 95, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Reverend Marvin Temme officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Rosie died on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. Visitation hours were held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Aug. 6 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and the casket was open at the church service.
Rosie was born on March 27, 1912 in Lusk, the daughter of George and Teresa (Brewer) Hecklebech who had homesteaded north of Van Tassell around 1910. Rosie grew up and attended school in Niobrara County through the eighth grade. She married Herman A. "Dick" Glandt on March 29, 1933 in Harrison, Neb. She was her husband's helpmate through many years of ranching in northern parts of Goshen County and later in retirement following their move to Torrington in 1982. Rosie and Dick were married over 64 years when Dick died in September of 1997 at the age of 92.
Through the years, Rosie was a member of the Burge Community Club, the Goshen CowBelles and the Lutheran Church in both Lusk and in Torrington. She enjoyed music and she played the piano and organ. Rosie and Dick loved to dance and she continued to attend dances until the last couple years of her life. Rosie especially enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandson.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard and his wife Marilyn of Torrington; and Dan and his wife Ina of Cheyenne; four grandsons, Jeff and wife Margery of Rapid City, S.D.; Todd of Cheyenne; Bruce and wife Francine of Solon, Ohio and Darryl of Rock Springs; four great grandsons, four great granddaughters, one great-great grandson; two sisters, Mary Kilgore of Jackson, Miss. and Mabel Leighton of Fruita, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to either the Evergreen Court in Torrington or to Thrivent Financial c/o the Lutheran Church.
