Chas. T. Schroefel, Citizen of County For More Than Half a Century, Laid at Rest in Lusk Cemetery Wednesday

Charles Theodore Schroefel, a resident of the county for the past 60 years, passed away in the Lusk Hospital at 2:15 o'clock Monday afternoon, August 30th , from complications and injuries received in an accident at the ranch home north of the city about five weeks prior to his demise.

Mr. Schroefel had been taking hay into a corral, using a team and sweep when the accident occurred. The sweep caught on a post and he was thrown to the ground with his feet becoming entangled in the reins, and the horses kept backing up running the sweep over him.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon in the chapel of Peet Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Juell of the Congregational Church officiating. During the service, two selections, "Rock of Ages" and "Sweet Bye and Bye" were sung by Mrs. Ab DeCastro and Miss Bessie Lumsden. Mrs. Judson P. Watson accompanied them on the organ.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery with Conrad Larson, Chas. Heumier, Roy Beard, Frank Wilson, J. D. Lorenzen and R. I. Olinger acting as pallbearers.

Charles Theodore Schroefel was born October 18, 1878 at Junction City, Kan., a son of John and Mary Louise Drexel Schroefel.

He accompanied his parents to Wyoming when he was a young lad of nine years of age. They engaged in the farming and ranching business and it also became the life work of Mr. Schroefel. His present ranch includes a portion of the old family place.

He is survived by his widow, Maude T. Schroefel and two daughters , Frances and Florence, a sister Mrs. Clara Lorenzen, and a brother, Ed Schroefel all of Lusk. He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
