Mrs. Hannah McCord Mother of Wm Sherk, Succumbs Wednesday
Thon book No. 4
Death came quietly to Mrs. Hannah Sherk McCord, long time resident of this community, early yesterday (Wednesday) morning, March 17th in the home of her son, Rev. William A. Sherk, of this city. Mrs. McCord had suffered a heart attack late in November of last year from which she had not fully recovered and this along with complications of advanced age were the causes of death.
Hannah Witmer was born to Henry and Diana Witmer on April 30, 1859 in Toronto Ontario, Canada. She was the second of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death.
The Witmer family moved to Michigan when she was six years of age. She was united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1881 to Franklin Sherk to which union, one son, William A. Sherk was born. Her husband passed away, May 12, 1895 and following his death, Mrs. McCord and her son homesteaded north of Node, where they lived until 1935 when they came to this city. Mrs. McCord had reached the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 16 days at the time of her demise. She is survived by her only son, William of this city.
Final services will be conducted from the Peet chapel at two o'clock Friday afternoon, March 19th, with Reverends Clyde Hampton and O. F. Shroyer reading the last rites.
