Concluding Services Held Monday For Miss Minnie E. Hitz, Resident of County For Almost Half Century

Last rites were held at 3:30 o'clock, Monday afternoon, September 13th for Miss Minnie Hitz, who passed away at the Lusk hospital at 10:50 a.m., Saturday, September 11th following an illness of several months duration.

Officiating at the services were Rev. Clyde E. Hampton. Three vocal selections, "Abide With Me," "Rock of Ages," and "Let the Lower Lights be Burning," were sung by Mesdames Edna DeCastro and Anita Culver. Accompanient on the chapel organ was by Miss Alice Fowler.

The remains were laid to rest in the Lusk cemetery with Henry Lenz, Emil Klemke, Joe McConaughey, Roy Turnbull, Frank Taylor and Jess McCormick acting as pallbearers.

Minnie Elsie Emma Hitz was born at Tulare, So. Dakota on February 19, 1890. In 1909 she came to Niobrara County, Wyoming with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hitz, who made their home on a ranch, about six miles northeast of Lusk. Five years later, she homesteaded near the home ranch.

Since the death of her parents, she has kept house for her two brothers , Ewald and Walter. As a hobby, she made plastic statuettes of horses which have become well-known all over the state.

The deceased was taken ill on April 15th of this year and was taken to St.Luke's hospital in Denver, Colo. She later returned to her home, but was again stricken on July 7th, with the malady and was taken to the Lusk hospital where she passed away Saturday, September 11th, at the age of 58 years, 8 months, and 23 days of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Mrs. Emma Snyder, Mrs. Bertha Paisley, Mrs. Agnes March and Mrs. Elsie Hammer. She is also survived by four brothers, Ewald, Herman, William, and Walter all of Lusk; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Haight of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Mrs. Alma Himes of Hat Creek, Wyo. and numerous other relatives.
