Harvey Coleman Dies In Wheatland Thurs.
Harvey C. Coleman, 72, Platte County Welfare Director for 27 years, died Thursday, May 21 at the Wheatland Hospital. He was the father of Mrs. Robert (Idy) Bramlet of Lusk.
Funeral services were conducted from the Schrader Funeral Home in Wheatland, with the Rev. Dean Addington of St. George's Episcopal Church of Lusk officiating, Saturday afternoon at 2:00. Laurence Swallon sang "The Lord's Prayer."
Graveside services were held by the Wheatland Masonic Lodge. Burial was in the Wheatland Cemetery.
He was born November 19, 1897, at Ulysses, Neb., the only child of Zephaniah and Louisa Coleman. He graduated with a BA degree from Betheny College, Lincoln, Neb., and a MA degree at the University of Wyoming, Laramie. He was a coach, teacher and administrator in public schools in Nebraska and Wyoming until 1941, when he became Platte County Welfare Director until 1968 when he retired. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bramlet of Lusk; one son, Bruce C. Coleman of Casper and four grandchildren.
Mr. Coleman was a familiar figure in Lusk and seldom missed a Lusk football or basketball game in which his grandsons, Bob or Tom, were playing.
