Fritz "Fred" Carl Johann Baars

Last Rites for Fred Baars Held Sunday; Passed Away 2nd.

Funeral services for Fritz Carl Johann Baars, conducted from the chapel of the Peet Mortuary, were held here Sunday, September 5th, at two o"clock. Mr. Baars, Niobrara County rancher for the past 32 years, passed away at the Spencer hospital Thursday, September 2nd, victim of a chronic heart ailment.

Officiating at final services for the deceased was Rev. A. I. Bernthal, pastor of the Lusk Lutheran Church. He was assisted by Miss Minnie Frosheiser who played soft organ selections throughout the service. Vocal numbers offered by Miss Aileen Bostrom and Mrs. Ralph Lingwood were "Beloved, It Is Well," and "One Sweetly Solemn Thought." Messrs. Walter Rymill, Henry Lenz, S.W. Reed and Walter Rymill, O. P. Harnagel, Amiel Klemke, served as casketbearers at the last rites. Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery at the side of Mr. Baars wife.

Mr. Baars is survived by four children, Mrs. L. O. Butler, Mrs. C. E. Humphrey, Wilmer and Harry Baars, three granddaughters and one grandson, all of this community and a large host of friends.

Fritz Carl Johann Baars, the son of Henrich Baars and his wife Dorothea, nee Jahnke, was born at Chicago, Ill., on February 12, 1880. On August 19, 1889, he was baptized in the name of the Tribunal God. During his infancy his parents moved to South Dakota, near Mitchell.

On March 18, 1894, he became a communicant member of the Lutheran church by the rite of confirmation. He remained a faithful member of this church until his death.

On June 9, 1904, he was united in marriage to Dorothea Nobbinan at Emerald, Nebr. The young couple made their home in South Dakota until the year 1911, when they located on a homestead near Lusk, Wyoming. Four children were born to this union. His wife preceded him in death on September 16, 1926.

Survivors to mourn his passing are his children, Mrs. L.O. Butler, Mrs. C. E. Humphrey, Wilmer and Harry Baars, three grandchildren and on grandson, all living near Lusk, Wyo. He came to the end of his earthly pilgrimage and fell asleep in the Lord on September 2, 1943.

Fred Baars Dies This Morning

Fred Baars, well-known farmer and rancher, nine miles south of Lusk, died at the Spencer Hospital this morning at 6:00 o'clock as the result of a stroke suffered several days ago.

No funeral arrangements had been made at The Herald press time, and no other details were available.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Lawrance Butler, Mrs. Charles Humphries, Wilmer and Harry Baars.

Baars Funeral Is Held Sunday

Funeral services for Fred Baars, 63, well known rancher of this community, were held from the Peet Mortuary on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 5th.

Mr. Baars passed away at the Spencer hospital on Thursday, September 2nd the victim of a severe heart attack. He had been a sufferer from a chronic heart ailment for a number of years and had entered the hospital for treatment a few days previous to his passing.

He was born at Chicago, Ill. February 12, 1880 the son of Henrick Baars and Dorothea Jahnaks Baars and in August of that year was (baptized) in the Lutheran church and in 1894 joined the church and remained a faithful member until his death.

During his infancy his parents moved from Illinois to a place near Mitchell, South Dakota. On the 9th of June, 1904 he was united in marriage to Dorothea Nobbman at Emerald, Nebraska, and the young couple made their home in South Dakota until 1911 when they moved to Wyoming, locating on a homestead south of Lusk.

Mrs. Baars preceeded her husband in death, passing away Sept. 16, 1926. Four children survive, they are two dauGhters, Mrs. L. O. Butler and Mrs. C. E. Humphrey and two sons, Wilmer and Harry Baars all of Lusk. Three granddaughters and one grandson also survive.

Rev. Bernthal of the Lutheran church officiated at the services and music was furnished by Mrs. Ralph Lingwood and Miss Eileen Bostrum accompanied by Miss Minnie Frosheiser.

The pallbearers were F. W. Reed, O. P. Harnagel, W. L. Klemke, Emil Klemke, W. L. Rymill and Henry Lenz.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery beside his wife.
